Sub-junior Natl Judo: Odisha bags 3 medals

A 23-member Odisha squad captured a total of three medals in the Sub-junior National Judo Championship, held at Vijaywada (AP) from September 3 to 7. The medals included one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Masi Hantal made Odisha proud by winning gold medal in boys` 12-13 years age group. Competing in below 55kg weight category, Hantala, who hails from Malkangiri district, achieved the rare success, beating his opponent from Delhi in the final.

Sankar Majhi of Bhubaneswar-based tribal school, KISS, captured the silver in 35kg category of boys` 11-12 years age group, while Gopal Sisa from Koraput district pocketed the bronze in 25kg category of boys` 10-11 years division. The state squad was guided by Odisha State Judo Association secretary Gitanjali Panda.
